Tips: Children always want to do what their parents do- this is such a great way to promote imitation skills, spontaneous language and engagement in sensory and pretend play. While washing the dishes yourself, use a variety of simple 1-3 word phrases i.e., wash, cup, soap, bubbles, rub, wash cup, more soap, its wet!, etc.

Add bubbles and give the child a small sponge so they can pretend to wash their own dishes as you do. Use the 'naming' strategy to label the actions that they are carrying out and items that they are playing with.

P.S. Recommended to use this outside on a hot summer day! what fun!
